Prayer for Peace
This heartfelt prayer for peace draws upon the prophetic vision of Isaiah, yearning for an end to warfare and the establishment of divine harmony throughout the world. Often recited during times of conflict or as part of personal meditation, it connects our longing for peace with gratitude for the earth's bounty and recognition of our true purpose in this world.
May it be Your will, Adonai our God and God of our ancestors, that You abolish wars and bloodshed from the world, and draw down a great and wondrous peace in the world, and nation shall not lift sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore, but all inhabitants of the world shall recognize and know the truth in its truth, that we did not come to this world for strife and quarrel, God forbid, and not for hatred and jealousy and anger and bloodshed, God forbid, but we came to the world in order to recognize and know You, blessed forever, and therefore have compassion upon us, and give rain and precipitation in its proper time and season, and let not the heavens withhold rain at any time when the world needs it, and may the verse be fulfilled that is written: "And I will give your rains in their season, and the land shall yield her produce, and the tree of the field shall yield its fruit. And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down and none shall make you afraid, and I will cause evil beasts to cease from the land, and the sword shall not pass through your land." And in Your abundant mercy, watch over that all vapors shall rise from the earth for good, that they shall always become from the vapors rains of blessing and bounty in their proper time and season, and the vapors shall not be transformed into bloodshed, God forbid. And bring the earth out of its curses with which it was cursed through the sin of our ancestors and through our sins, and transform all the curses into blessings, for You can do all things and nothing is withheld from You.
